Welcome to the Pauanui Airfield web site.

The purpose of this site is to promote safe flight operations within the Pauanui Beach area, to provide a means for airfield users to communicate with the owner and operator of the airfield and with each other, and to encourage pilots and their friends and families to visit us here in Pauanui. We feel privileged to have a facility like our airfield in this beautiful part of New Zealand and hope that we can share some of the enjoyment we find here with you.

I would like to encourage users to provide feedback to me via email. Issues arising will be considered by the owner, operator and/or the Pauanui Airfield User Group (PAUG) as appropriate. Should you provide your name or contact information, these will be kept private.

This year's fly in was another great success again with 110 aircraft turning up. A great carnival atmosphere! Planning ahead to next year, we would like to see you all arrive for a great day on Saturday 5th January, 2008. See the Events page for more!

The Pauanui Airfield User Group (PAUG) holds regular meetings. Results from each meeting will be published on the User Group page. All users are welcome to join the PAUG.

A newsletter will be published covering operational issues, planned airfield maintenance schedules, upcoming events and other related information. Time permitting, I will try to do this every six months. The newsletters will be available on the downloads page or you can subscribe to the newsletter by sending me a short email at bryan@pauanuibeach.com.

NOTAM

Rabbits continue to cause considerable damage to the airfield by digging holes that are big enough to damage less sturdy aircraft. Any aircraft with light undercarriage systems should exercise CAUTION when operating on the airfield. Environment Waikato released a virus last year but only achieved a 25-35% kill. So it is going to be an ongoing problem.

A poisoning programme using Pindone will be carried out during the month of June 2007. This will involve volunteers distributing poison each evening and retrieving leftover poison the following morning. This will be done for 3 days each week over June.

CAUTION: pets may be affected by the poison. If poisoning is suspected the antidote for Pindone is vitamin K1.
